History of Hosseini Carpet

Know Us

In 1963, a man from the Hosseini family named Seyed Ahmad Hosseini decided to move to Tehran to expand his business, alongside managing his carpet weaving workshops in the city of Yazd, which belonged to his father, the late Seyed Morteza Hosseini. To further develop his profession, he rented a shop in this city to boost his business. Thus, he began his activities in a shop in the Ferdowsi Alley, Tajrish neighborhood, and has been operating at the current address (Fakourian Street) since 1966.

It was from those years that the production and sale of handwoven carpets became the main occupation of the Hosseini family; this profession was passed down from generation to generation, from grandfather to son, and from son to grandson, and continues to this day.

In 1975, considering the change in customer tastes, the activities of the workshops in Yazd decreased, and the production continued in the workshops of Isfahan province, particularly in the city of Na’in. In the 1990s, the peak of activity and production of large-scale Na’in carpets, ranging from 24 square meters to about 600 square meters, was mostly for buyers from the Persian Gulf countries.

From the late 1990s, the activity in Na’in gradually decreased, and due to the delicacy, durability, and variety of colors of Tabriz and Qom carpets, customer demand shifted more towards carpets produced in Tabriz and Qom. Since then, most of our gallery’s activities have been in the production and sale of carpets from these two provinces.

Currently, the number of permanent and direct staff at Hosseini Carpet is six, and the number of seasonal and indirect staff (including designers, dyers, weavers, finishers, restorers, carpet washers, etc.) varies from about 10 to 18 people.

Of course, our efforts and the ups and downs of our journey to date cannot be encapsulated in words; however, we hope that with this brief article, we have been able to acquaint you with Hosseini Carpet and the process of its formation and progress.
